On Friday, 23rd January 2026, the UGMSA Food Bank Committee met with the UGMSA Executives to deliberate extensively on the Food Bank Project. Today, we are proud and deeply grateful to announce that we have secured sufficient funds to officially kick-start this life-impacting initiative.
The UGMSA Food Bank is born out of empathy, solidarity, and a shared commitment to student welfare. Its core aim is simple but powerful: to ensure that no medical student studies on an empty stomach. Behind every lecture attended while hungry is a quiet struggle; behind every exam written without a meal is silent resilience. This project exists to ease that burden, restore dignity, and remind our colleagues that they are seen, valued, and supported.
We are pleased to share that the Food Bank Committee has already begun procuring food items, and the first food distribution is scheduled for 10th February 2026. The UGMSA Executives are working closely with the Dean of the Medical School and engaging private partners and well-wishers to ensure that we can reach and support a significant number of students.
At UGMSA, service is not a slogan-it is a responsibility. This Food Bank represents our shared humanity, our compassion for one another, and our unwavering resolve to care for every student. We remain dedicated, intentional, and ready to serve, because when one student eats, the entire community grows stronger.
Together, we will ensure that hope is served, dignity is preserved, and no one is left behind.
God bless UGMSA.❤️
