UGMSA Week 2025: Day 2

Home >Blog >UGMSA Week 2025: Day 2

As part of the 2025 UGMSA Week Celebration, the University of Ghana Medical Students’ Association hosted the annual Dean’s Breakfast on Monday, April 28 — a cherished tradition set aside to honour the leadership and guidance of the Dean of the University of Ghana Medical School.

Held in a warm and relaxed setting, the Dean’s Breakfast brought students and faculty together over a hearty meal, engaging conversation, and meaningful reflection. Our Dean graciously shared her personal experiences from medical school, offering valuable insights and encouragement to the next generation of doctors. In turn, students openly shared some of the challenges they currently face, fostering dialogue and mutual understanding.

This special gathering also served as the official launch of UGMSA Week 2025, themed “From Bump to Birth and Beyond.” A key highlight of the morning was a brief educational session on the theme’s foundation — the term “Sun Mem,” a Frisian word meaning “healthy mom.” The explanation underscored our week’s focus on maternal and child health and emphasized the importance of advocacy for women’s health at all stages of life.

Adding to the celebration, members of the Class of 2006 made a surprise appearance, proudly presenting their trophy to the Dean and capturing the moment with photographs. Their visit was a touching reminder of the enduring spirit of the UGMSA community across generations.

The morning was filled with music, dance, laughter, and lively storytelling, creating an atmosphere of unity and celebration. It was not just a breakfast — it was a testament to the strength of our community, the leadership that guides us, and the shared journey that connects us all.

UGMSA Week had officially begun, and with it, a renewed commitment to service, education, and community.

Stay with us as we continue to highlight the events and impact of UGMSA Week 2025.
