On Day 3 of the UGMSA Week Celebration 2025, students took a well-deserved break from the books and headed to the sports complex for a vibrant and electrifying event dubbed “The Night Shift.” True to its name, the night came alive with games, music, lights, food, and endless fun.

At the heart of the Night Shift was the UGMSA Basketball Finals, where intense competition and school spirit took center stage. The battle for first place saw the Class of 2025 face off against the Class of 2026 in a thrilling match. In the end, the Class of 2025 emerged victorious, clinching their third consecutive championship title — a feat they proudly celebrated with custom “3-peat” t-shirts. The match for third place also provided an exciting spectacle for the crowd.

But the night didn’t stop at basketball. The entire sports complex was transformed into a mosaic of recreational zones, each buzzing with energy. Attendees enjoyed:

Archery

Pool (Billiards)

Board games such as Ludo, Chess, and Scrabble

Jenga – the thrilling block-stacking game

Balloon Shooting Game – a fun target-shooting challenge using toy guns

FIFA Tournament, where Sean from the Class of 2017 reigned supreme and received a well-deserved award

Bouncy castles and air-filled games

Trampoline jumping for pure nostalgic joy

The award presentation segment added a celebratory touch, as students who excelled in various competitions were called up on stage to receive trophies and certificates. The festive mood was enhanced by the high-energy performances from MC Chubby and our very own iPad DJ, who kept the crowd grooving late into the night under dazzling stage lights.

As students danced, mingled, and let loose, the student marketplace bustled nearby. Our talented student entrepreneurs served up mouth-watering treats like:

Lemonade

Grilled sausage and chicken

Popcorn

Pancakes & waffles

Cotton candy

The Night Shift was more than just an evening event — it was a perfect blend of community, competition, and celebration. It brought together students from across the medical school to laugh, cheer, play, and simply enjoy the moment.

UGMSA Week continued to deliver on its promise of not just advocacy and awareness, but also fun, unity, and unforgettable memories.
